My wife wanted a rainbow lamp to use on a corner table at her salon, to cast a bit of light by the door. She wanted it to use a squirrel cage bulb. That (and the rainbow bit) was the only brief I had. I chose to combine the natural and the synthetic, bringing simple woodworking and 3D printing together to make this layered table lamp.

The one in the picture is the one I made for myself afterwards. I liked it that much.

Designed in TinkerCAD on a Windows laptop and made from oak and PLA.

A local defence training company asked me to produce a number of items to be used in training sessions. These included a mock-up of part of a homing missile’s guidance system, a set of geometrically accurate target props, and a shell for a working model radar. (The picture shows a - simplified - diagram of the latter.)

I can’t give you any more information than that I’m afraid. If I did I’d have to… well, you know the rest.

When I moved into my office-cum-workshop I needed a music corner. For one thing, I wanted to take pictures of my products in a real place, but also - and more importantly - I needed to be able to listen to music. And the best way to do that is on a vintage stereo, with a modern record player plugged into it. Those things, and the speakers, should be on appropriate stands, and the wall should be adorned with records held on brackets and shelves made for the purpose.
